Domaine Philippe Alliet Chinon "Vieilles Vignes" red 2022

Coup de Cœur and 95/100 RVF. A step above the cuvée "tradition," with a longer aging process. A simple and accessible approach to the talent of Philippe Alliet... and now his son! This 2022 begins to open up in 2025 and still has many years to flourish in a good cellar.

Attention:
The wines signed by Philippe Alliet all deserve a decanting a few hours before tasting, as the low level of sulfur intentionally used during vinification can sometimes lead to reduction upon opening the bottle (unpleasant aromas of cabbage, rotten egg), which of course disappears with aeration.

Domaine Philippe Alliet Vieilles Vignes red 2022

RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2025 (August 2024): Favorite and 95/100. The sunny character of the 2022 vintage has been brilliantly tamed in Vieilles Vignes, reserved, dense, velvety, and of refined power. The fresh Loire signature elevates the finish with precision. This wine, destined for more than fifteen years of aging, is our favorite of the year.
