Rocher des violettes is the rising value of Montlouis-sur-Loire.
Wonderful white wines elaborated with talent by a young winemaker, Xavier Weisskopf, recognized by the vineyards around as one of the most talented of the region. Everything is here gathered to produce great Loire wines: the vines, the terroir ... and the artist!
The latter no longer has anything to envy his elders as he now controls his subject. A subject he learned after studying oenology and viticulture (in Beaune, Burgundy) as a winemaker in one of the best estates in Gigondas (Saint-Cosme). In 2005, he realized his dream thanks to an exceptional opportunity in Montlouis: Settle in majestic troglodyte caves of the 15th century located in the center of Amboise (constant temperature of 12-13 ° C, what a dream!), 13 ha Of vineyards, 9 of which are located in the best place : Montlouis-sur-Loire, some of which are more than 100 years old! Certainly the age of the vines will give low yields, but it is just what it takes to make great wines! After a few decades, he climbed the apprenticeship ladder and is now one of the best winemakers in Montlouis, with François Chidaine and Jacky Blot, the other winemaker of our selection.
At Rocher des Violettes, all the best practices are applied: organic farming (without fertilizers or chemicals), manual harvesting in small boxes to avoid damaging the berries when they are transported to the cellar, and careful vinification , in white wine as in red wine.
