Bardi d'Alquier (former Jean Michel Alquier), a key figure in Faugeres.

bardi-d-alquier-faugeres-languedoc
The syrahs from mass selections planted in the 60s by his father Gilbert are still there.

They allow Jean Michel Alquier to develop what is best in Faugeres. He has a great experience and talent as in winemaking and blending.

In 2018, Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou join the estate. Following this association, Jean Michel Alquier estate becomes Bardi D'Alquier. Sophie and Thibaud gently take over the estate. In order to perpetuate the identity of the wines, the history of the estate will be written for a few years still in 4 hands, with Jean-Michel and Veronique Alquier.

He produces 3 perfectly complementary wines. They are adapted to its fabulous terroir of 11 hectares (of which 10 in red grape varieties)

The 3 main wines of the estate:

"Les Premieres" is the easy to drink cuvee. Mostly from low-lying syrahs, supplemented by grenache and carignan. Aged in barrels for a year, this wine can be drunk in its youth, "on the fruit"... but it will nevertheless gain in finesse and balance after a few years in a cellar. For those who do not just appreciate "juice"!

"Maison jaune" is denser. It is made of 70% grenache, 20% syrah and 10% mourvedre. Aged 18 months in barrels (including a small minority of new barrels). This is an example of "finesse" vinification. After a few years of aging the firm tannins become perfectly round, balancing the density of black fruits, cocoa and licorice.

Les Bastides d'Alquier, the finest cuvee of the estate. It benefits from the old "altitude" syrahs. This brings exceptional concentration, adapted to a traditional aging of 18 months in barrels (30 to 40 % new). In short, a great wine for ageing ... which it is recommended to forget in cellar during its first 3-4 years, and which will last an additional decade, even more in the great vintages.
