Domaine de Piéblanc, Matthieu Ponson

Portrait Matthieu Ponson

Created in 2014 by Matthieu Ponson, Domaine de Piéblanc is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux, on the heights of the village of Caromb.

The winemaker, grandson of an oenologist, grew up in Cornas and spent his childhood in the vineyards. After a brilliant career as an engineer, he decided to reconvert to live from his passion.

He then created a first domain in Burgundy: the Domaine des Crêts before moving by family choice to the Southern Rhône Valley where he created the Domaine de Piéblanc.

The latter is essentially composed of high altitude vines (for more freshness, the ultimate in these times!): 10 hectares of vines in AOC Ventoux, 15 hectares of vines in AOC Beaumes de Venise and finally 6 hectares in AOC Gigondas.

Matthieu Ponson attaches great importance to the earth and to the respect of nature, he very quickly started a conversion of his domain to organic farming. After 3 years of work, the 2020 vintage obtained the famous "organic farming" label.

The domain offers us a range of wines perfectly representative of the 3 appellations from the main noble grape varieties of the region: Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan.

Our selection of wines from the domain :

- Beaumes de Venise " Les Hauts " red

- Gigondas " Les Terres " red

- Gigondas " Pallierouda " red

- Ventoux " La Barre " red
