Christelle Betton - Crozes-Hermitage
Christelle Betton manages 10 hectares of AOP Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage vines with impressive energy. A self-taught winemaker, she develops the family heritage with parcel-based cuvées that each have their own identity based on the terroir in which they are grown.
The Crozes Hermitage red parcels are located in the heart of Les Châssis, a terroir of alluvium and rolled pebbles where the fruit of the Syrah grape is fully expressed. When grown in the northern Rhône, this rich, complex grape offers delicate notes of red and black fruits mixed with violets and spices. It ages very well.
Parcels of dry white wine, both in AOP Crozes Hermitage and in the highly sought-after AOP Hermitage, are located on the heights of the famous Hermitage hill, the best place in the world for fine Rhône white wines of unique purity and finesse. The grapes are picked by hand, and vinification and maturation are carried out separately for each parcel.
The winemaker's philosophy: Respect the terroir by preserving the primary aromas of Syrah.
The winemaker also produces apricots and peaches, in keeping with the tradition of many Northern Rhône estates.
