Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, one of the best estates in Chateauneuf du pape.

vieux-telegraphe-brunier-chateauneufDomaine du Vieux Télégraphe (70 ha) is the flagship of Vineyards Brunier, one of the four estates created and managed by the fourth generation of winemakers of the Brunier family.

Based in Bedarrides in the heart of the Crau plateau (rhone valley), on the famous pebbled soil of the Chateauneuf du Pape AOP, the winemakers also own the "Domaine de la Roquete" (also located in Chateauneuf du Pape) , "Les Pallieres" (in Gigondas) and "Massaya"  (in Lebanon).

Only 4 wines are produced in Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe: "Le Vieux Télégraphe" red and white, from the oldest vines (the most complex cuvees), and "Le Telegramme" red and white, second wine which is lighter and easier to drink, all in Chateauneuf du Pape AOP.

Grenache, the main grape variety, gives its best on stony terroirs with varied exposures. It is blended with mourvedre, syrah, counoise, cinsault, clairette, roussanne, bourboulenc and picpoul. These complementary grape varieties bring balance and complexity.

The harvest is manual, followed by a meticulous sorting of the berries, in perfect respect of the fruit.

The grapes are received by gravity in order to respect their physiological state until they arrives in the destemmer, avoiding the pumps and the pipes. Thus, a long fermentation triggered by indigenous yeasts (present naturally on berries) can be initiated, representative of this particular soil.

The ultimate goal: to find in each vintage the ideal balance between aromatic complexity, tannic structure and richness. This search for harmony depends on the climatic characteristics specific to each vintage. The wines are then aged in huge oak barrels to respect their personality while bringing complexity and harmony.

The Brunier also produce a "small" PGI (formerly a "Vin de Pays") called "Le Pigeoulet des Brunier". It is a blend of Grenache and two very specific and complementary plots. An exceptional value for money.
