Laurent Combier, among the best winemakers in Crozes Hermitage.
The family estate was created by Laurent Combier grandfather in Crozes Hermitage, around the Clos des Grives. His parents were very innovative by choosing organic viticulture in the 1970s, (a crazy bet for the time). Since 1990, Laurent Combier took over his parents. He continues the historical culture of apricots, and decides to concentrate exclusively on the quality of the wines: they will no longer keep a part of the harvest for the local cooperative, and everything will be bottled at the estate. Today, the estate covers 25 hectares of perfectly maintained vines, in Crozes Hermitage and Saint Joseph appellation.
Precursors of the organic movement, the Combiers have always had a philosophy now widespread: they focus on the life of the plant by working the soil manually and integrating the lunar calendar. They dedicate themselves at the service of nature to grow the best grapes: "Nature is governing every gesture and not the opposite".
Laurent Combier is a talented winemaker. His reds are made from syrah and his whites from roussanne and marsanne. He produces his wines with a modern production tool in line with his search for excellence.
His most famous wine comes from an exceptional single vineyard named "Clos des Grives". It is produced in red and white.
In addition to Clos des Grives, Laurent also produces other wines : the single vineyard cuvee called "Cap Nord". And the cuvee 'Domaine' produced with the old vines of the estate. The young vines enable to produce the 'Cuvee L' which is ready to drink young, aged parly in ovoid vats, and partly in oak barrels.
