Joblot estate, a reference in Givry

juliette-joblot-givry-bourgogne
Joblot estate is a reference in Cote Chalonnaise. Joblot family produces among the best Givry wines, which are highly sought after by amateurs. Charles Joblot, originator of the PDO Givry, writes an important page in the history of the vineyard : the agricultural land then used for polyculture is transformed into a vineyard. Charles's son, Jean-Marc Joblot, took over as head of the vineyard in 1979.

One of the few oenologists who graduated in the 1970s, when the winemakers were trained "on the job", he used his precious knowledge to modernize his vineyard. What a success! Confident and extremely sharp, Jean-Marc Joblot elaborates the wines he loves. And for that, you have to give yourself the means: quality of the tannins and freshness of the grapes to the harvest. The grapes are harvested early enough, in 7 to 8 days maximum. This is what gives this inimitable freshness to the wines of Joblot estate. For Jean-Marc Joblot, the wine is made in the vines. Once harvested (the date of harvest is decided according to the multiple tastings of berries), the grape is vinified with the least intervention possible. "Every time we intervene, we take away something from quality," he hammered.

But Jean-Marc Joblot is not alone in his approach. His brother Vincent joined him in 1986 and the roles are naturally distributed: Jean-Marc in the cellar, and Vincent in the vines. He lives on the edge of the village, right in front of them. "Vincent is our weather station," says Juliette Joblot, daughter of Jean-Marc. As you can see, the Joblot vineyard is above all a family story. And it is now the last generation who takes over the reins of the vineyard : Juliette Joblot, enologist by training, is the current director of the vineyard since 2012.

With her experience in South Africa and La Courtade in Provence, Juliette continues the family tradition on the reds while imposing her more modern and less wooded style on the whites.
