Clos Cibonne – Famille Deforges en Provence
Located in Provence in the commune of Le Pradet, Clos Cibonne is a family wine estate of 15 hectares, ambassador of the Tibouren grape in France.
The Clos was named "Cibonne" in homage to the former count and owner of the estate: Jean-Baptise Cibon. The property was then sold to the Roux family who have lived and worked on the estate for over two centuries.
In the 1930s, André Roux decided to reintroduce a grape variety that was on the verge of disappearing in Provence. The Tibouren, an old noble and very demanding grape variety, which had almost disappeared with the phylloxera crisis. To obtain the Côte de Provence appellation, he added Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault vines. In 1955, the estate obtained the right to use the appellation "Cru classé" thanks to its Tibouren du Pradet.
When André Roux died, his daughter Jacqueline took over the property with her husband Emile. For 15 years, they did everything possible to restructure and modernize the estate. A new cellar was built and new lands were bought to plant Tibouren. They passed on all their knowledge to their daughter Brigitte and her husband Claude who took over the estate in 2003 and who today perpetuate the tradition with their children Olivier and Caroline.
The entire vineyard is worked in organic agriculture and the 2020 vintage is the first to have obtained the certification.
The domain offers us wines of character, of great quality in rosé, white and red.
