Les Aurelles, a very rigourous estate in Languedoc.
We are happy to count the wines of Caroline and Basile Saint-Germain, in our catalog. Located on the terroir of Pezenas, this couple of precursors settled in 1995 to produce some of the best Languedoc wines.
The extraordinary strength of character of this passionate couple allowed them to cultivate their vines in an original approach, very close to organic and biodynamic, from their establishment in 1995! "We chose to cultivate our vines with great attention, ensuring an ecological balance, in an environment". Thanks to their respective experiences in the world of wine (Bordeaux) and Cognac, they decided to settle in Languedoc to produce wines like them: authentic, demanding.
Les Aurelles estate has 9 hectares of vineyards bordering the plateau of Nizas, a few tens of kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. The vines are cultivated with the utmost respect for the nature and the biodiversity of the place, without fertilizers nor weedkiller or pesticide. Anxious to prove the perfect sanitary condition of their vines, the Saint Germain have a very precise analysis by a laboratory precursor on the environmental level, Laboratory Excell Bordeaux. These analyzes are not required by certification bodies in organic or biodynamic agriculture.
The rigor of this couple of exceptional winemakers is matched only by his kindness towards those who enjoy their magnificent cuvees and, to use their words, "in this twenty-second year, we assure you that we take an ever more precise vigilance in our work, the vineyard and the cellar, so that our wines will nourish you and regale you with their qualities." Notably thanks to a very simple vinification, Les Aurelles offers superb wines, digestible, of an extraordinary purity, entirely dedicated to the pleasure of the senses.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Jeb Dunnuck) : Another terrific producer in the Pezenas region, Domaine Les Aurelles is, unfortunately, not imported into the US. I loved the latest releases from them though and they're worth the extra effort to track down.
