Pauline Passot - Domaine de la Grosse Pierre
The Domaine de la Grosse Pierre is situated in the heart of the Beaujolais region, on the granite slopes of Chiroubles. It has been certified organic since 2019. Since 2018, Pauline Passot has been at the helm of the estate, which was founded by her grandfather, Georges Passot, in the 1960s. It was after gaining experience as a sommelier in France and abroad that Pauline decided to return to her native region. The domaine covers 9 hectares of vineyards in the Chiroubles, Morgon and Fleurie appellations, producing wines from the famous Gamay Noir à jus blanc grape. Vinification is carried out naturally, using indigenous yeasts, with no additives or added sulphites, in the traditional manner, using whole bunches with some pumping over and, above all, infusion throughout the maceration period. All the wines are vinified in the same way to best bring out the expression of the terroir.
The radio programme ‘On Va Déguster’ on France Inter and its wine specialist Jérôme Gagnez gave the domaine and the 2024 Chiroubles red a special mention: ‘Easy-drinking, intense fruit, approachable and charming. A lovely, accessible wine. Perfect for a picnic!’.
