Fontaine Gagnard, grands crus from Cote de Beaune
Fontaine Gagnard produces great Burgundy wines on prestigious appellations such as Chassagne Montrachet, Batard Montrachet, Volnay and Pommard, considered among the greatest chardonnay and pinot noir of Cote de Beaune.
The family experience and talent as well as the great terroirs of Premier Cru and Grand Crus have made the estate famous.
Fontaine Gagnard is a family estate created in 1985, now managed by the third generation, incarnated by Celine who joined the estate in 2007. For several centuries, the family is in wine business. The estate has remained on a human scale with its 12 hectares of vineyards, mainly located on Chassagne-Montrachet where the family has ten 1er Crus! The family also owns some hectares on Volnay and Pommard.
At the estate they practice traditional vinification: manual harvesting, settling, aging in oak barrels. The winemaker pays great attention to the origin of the oaks, the quality of the wood. The goal is to bring out the finesse and purity in the wines. The white wines are aged for 1 year, the red wines age 18 months in barrels. The estate practices a reasoned culture: plowing, regular soil analysis, replacing tired feet.
Fontaine Gagnard produces fine wines on climates that are among the best climates of Burgundy. It is today one of the big names of the Cote de Beaune.
