The domaine Tarra di L'Apa is a Corsican wine and honey estate that produces red, white, and rosé wines in AOC Ajaccio from the predominant grape variety Sciaccarellu, available for online purchase and home delivery from our climate-controlled stocks located in Burgundy.
Which cuvées from Tarra di L'Apa should you buy?
The range is very consistent: Aio is the basic cuvée, and Regina is the prestige cuvée. Between the two, Aeterna is the main cuvée of the domaine, the one we have selected: An excellent quality/price ratio, available in red, white, and rosé.
The Rouge Aeterna: 100% Sciaccarellu, it is the winemaker's signature: fine and delicately colored robe, aromas of red fruits and spices, elegant and velvety tannins. It was while tasting this cuvée that we discovered Romain Salasca, this extraordinary winemaker-beekeeper.
The Rosé Aeterna is a pressed rosé, a blend of various local grape varieties. Fruity and floral, this rosé with citrus notes provides a very appealing freshness.
The Blanc Aeterna is made from 100% Vermentino, generous and voluble, with acidity that refreshes the finish. Very interesting and particularly accessible for a very good white wine from Corsica!
Where is the domaine Tarra di L'Apa located?
The 7 hectares of vineyards of the domaine Tarra di L'Apa are located on the plains of Peri and Carbuccia, close to Ajaccio. Their geographical location, between the sea (Gulf of Ajaccio) and mountains (Monte d'Oro), offers extraordinary climatic conditions, and the depth of the soil allows the vines to draw on the mineral wonders of the granitic subsoil.
What is the history of the domaine Tarra di L'Apa?
Romain Salasca, grandson of a winemaker, is a well-established beekeeper who decided in 2015 to diversify and participate in the revival of AOP Ajaccio, which had fallen into oblivion. He took advantage of the recent success of the local grape variety Sciaccarellu, which is gaining popularity for its characteristics of freshness and lightness, in contrast to other more rustic and robust Corsican grape varieties. On his 25 hectares, the winemaker has now planted 9.5 hectares of vines (Sciaccarellu of course, but also Niellucciu, Bianco Gentile, Vermentinu, Minustrellu, and Carcajolu), of which 7 are currently in production. The rest of the domaine consists of about 300 hives that produce divine honey! It should be noted that L'Apa means Bee in Corsica!
Tarra di L'Apa, one of our main discoveries of 2026, symbolizes the viticultural renaissance in Corsica for us: excellent quality wines that remain affordable to gain recognition... unlike the historical stars whose prices have become substantial. Taste it, and you'll see what we mean!
