A 100% pinot noir cuvée with an elegant, lace-like structure, without excessive concentration. Rare: we only received 4 cases this year. Forgetting it for a few years in the cellar will only make it better.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Noir "Heimbourg" red 2023

Tasting notes (January 2025): Intense garnet red color but not dark. On the nose, the wine is closed upon opening and shows a slight reduction. It evolves very well over time, even after a few days, revealing an aromatic palette of red fruits, underbrush, spices; black cherry. The palate is elegant with a silky texture. The tannins are not aggressive but still present in the finish. Beautiful freshness in the finish and above all, great drinkability.

Technical sheet written by the domaine

Description: The one and only red plot on the domaine is located on the western slope of the lieu-dit Heimbourg in Turckheim. The Oligocene limestone terroir is rich in iron, ideal for the maturation of tannins, and its west-facing exposure allows for late sunlight on the grapes. Although planted at a very high density (9000 vines/ha), the harvest is often very small.

In 2023, the Pinot family benefited from extraordinary climatic conditions and for once, we were able to harvest a normal yield of beautiful grapes in perfect sanitary condition. The harvest is hand destemmed. The berries ferment in open tanks with very little pumping over and punching down. Pressing occurs after 12 days of maceration to finish fermentation in tank before transferring to 228L barrels that have already held wine. Aging in barrels until bottling 16 months later. For this cuvée, we aim for a wine with an elegant, lace-like structure, without excessive concentration.
