Description : This wine is made from plots planted on the Clos Saint Urbain in Thann between 1978 and 1989. 

Tasting comment (January 2026) : Pale yellow color. The nose reveals subtle spicy aromas and flint, reflecting the volcanic origin of the grapes. A subtle array of fresh aromatic herbs (oregano, broom, sage…) is accompanied by scents of wet stone. On the attack, the palate is smooth, precise, and opens gradually. The wine unfolds progressively to coat the palate. The finish tightens around a beautiful texture and reveals a surprising acidity for this terroir. Very nice length where the salinity of the volcanic terroir adds a complex originality.

Total acidity : 4.3 g/l H2SO4 (6.6 g/l Tartaric)

pH : 3.0

Yield : 17 hl/ha

Optimum tasting period : 2027-2036

Average age of the vines : 38 years

Terroir : Grand Cru Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain. South-facing, very steep slopes, volcanic (tuffs & grauwackes).
