Côte-Rôtie "La Belle Hélène" 2019 by Stéphane Ogier:

Guide RVF des Meilleurs Vins de France 2024 (Sept. 2023): 96/100. Although the oak influence of La Belle Hélène is still somewhat noticeable, the material is such that it will integrate seamlessly and will make an admirable bottle in a decade.

Jeb Dunnuck*: 100/100. Pure perfection, the Côte-Rôtie La Belle Hélène 2019 comes from the lieu-dit "Côte-Rôzier" and is partially aged in demi-muids as well as in Burgundy barrels, already used once or twice. Compared to the cuvée Lancement, which is more aromatic and delicate, La Belle Hélène is more powerful and presents aromas of blackcurrant, black raspberries, smoked meat, iron, graphite, and chocolate. The style of the
vintage reminds us of 2010 (or a blend of 2009 and 2010), it is full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with building tannins and an incredible mid-palate. This is a mythical and brilliant Côte-Rôtie that will evolve for three decades. It deserves at least 7-8 years of bottle aging.
MATURITY: 2029-2060.

* Jeb Dunnuck is a former taster for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate for French wines, he has now created his own English-language guide, this French translation was provided to us by the domaine.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Joe Czerwinski, January 2022): 97-99/100. Another superlative effort, Ogier's 2019 Cote Rotie La Belle Helene—a selection from the lieu-dit of Côte Rozier—boasts slightly lifted, herbal nuances on the nose, followed by masses of blackberry and blueberry fruit. Full-bodied, powerful, rich and creamy textured, it might be a tiny bit less complex than the La Cote Blonde but is still tightly impressive. Drink 2025-2040.
