Domaine Peyre Rose Coteaux du Languedoc "Clos des Cistes" 2004 red wine:
La Revue du Vin de France (May 2024, "the 100 wines that define the greatness of Languedoc") : 95/100. The attack has gained in smoothness. It still tells us about the garrigue and the song of woodcocks with its scents of licorice, aromatic herbs, and crushed olive. There are also hints of humus and leather. It is perfect today with its enveloping, sanguine, and creamy mouthfeel.
Guide RVF des Meilleurs Vins de France 2022 (Sept. 2021) : 96/100. Fresher, it also retains a lot of indulgence, with a slightly tangy fruitiness, a hint of cistus and nigella, and a beautiful length.
Guide RVF des Meilleurs Vins de France 2018 (August 2017) : 17.5/20. Marlène Soria offered us this year a magnificent three-dimensional tasting (vertical and horizontal). What a journey! The exploration of a continent made of voluble bouquets, sometimes almost decadent, and of powerful, fleshy materials, armed with tannins that some may find excessive. We emerged once again captivated by the extraordinary character of these wines. The 2004s are currently majestic, with immense expressiveness.
The RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2016 : Mentholated and truffled, the Clos des Cistes 2004 displays the same spectacular intensity as the 2005s, with perhaps a hint of extra freshness.
The Bettane et Desseauve Guide 2014 : A dream wine, to be enjoyed absolutely by the fireplace. Explosion of flavors and aromas, it has the flaws of its qualities but it is unique.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Jeb Dunnuck, April 2015) : The 2004 Languedoc Clos des Cistes is incredibly perfumed and complex, with lots of spice, dried herbs, charcuterie, and sweet red and black fruits all emerging from the glass. Medium-bodied, supple, sexy, and seamless, this beauty is overflowing with character. It's drinking nicely today and should continue to evolve nicely.
