Domaine Peyre Rose "Belle Léone" red 2013 (3 bottles)

92/100 RVF and 97/100 B+D. At the end of March 2023: the 2013 vintage has arrived! The cuvée is now called "Belle Léone" instead of "Syrah Léone", under the Vin de France appellation and not "Coteaux du Languedoc". Indeed, the winemaker did not like the new appellation "Languedoc" (plain), which replaced "Coteaux du Languedoc" in 2011, so having chosen "Vin de France", she is no longer allowed to indicate a grape variety name on her label. One of our regulations that makes foreigners laugh! No worries, neither the winemaker, nor the vines, nor the wine are changing, it’s still just as good!

RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2024  (August 2023): 92/100. "Belle Léon is still young, it has exuberance to spare, a marked tannic structure, and embraces a more fleshy identity; it will need to be revisited in a few years."

Bettane + Desseauve Guide 2023 (Dec. 2022): 97/100. A bit tighter in this vintage than Les Cistes but still with these profusions of magnificent tertiary flavors.
