Domaine Berthier Coteaux du Giennois "Le Champ Jacquot" red 2022

The best parcel of pinot noir from the domaine in AOP Coteaux du Giennois, produced in very limited quantities and aged for a long time in the cellar to be offered only after it has matured for a few years. In short, the pinnacle of the red production from the Berthier brothers in this AOP that truly deserves to be discovered, and at this price, it is a very good opportunity. Still a bit young and closed in 2025, it deserves some aeration if you taste it this year.

Domaine Berthier Coteaux du Giennois "Le Champs Jacquot" red 2022

Technical sheet written by the domaine :

Grape variety
Pinot noir: 100%

Terroir
From a single plot of Pinot Noir planted about thirty years ago on a limestone slope called "le Champs Jacquot", this vineyard has allowed us to produce a wine of surprising concentration and complexity.

Vinification
To avoid damaging the grapes, great care was taken during the harvest. A cold maceration preceded fermentation for a total of 16 days of vinification.

Location of the AOP
Located between Gien and Cosne-sur-Loire, this 191-hectare vineyard enjoys a temperate climate thanks to the Loire, with a continental influence from the East. It is planted on the slopes of the Loire, extensions of the geological formations of Sancerrois and Pouilly. Coteaux du Giennois is a small and recent appellation, yet archaeological evidence of vineyards dating back to the 2nd century can be found. An AOP that is flourishing with authentic wines that reveal the originality of their terroir.

Aging
100% of the malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. The wine remains in oak barrels for 9 to 12 months. Le Champs Jacquot is bottled without filtration or fining.

Service
Serve between 10 and 12 °C.
Drink now, it can be kept for 4 to 7 years.

Food and wine pairings
With a chicken tagine with figs or a breaded camembert.

Tasting
Le Champ Jacquot presents beautiful fruity and floral aromas. Rich on the palate, this complex wine will delight the most refined palates.
