Domaine Peyre Rose "Belle Léone" red 2014

At the end of March 2024: the 2014 vintage has arrived! The cuvée has been called "Belle Léone" since 2011 instead of "Syrah Léone," under the Vin de France designation and not "Coteaux du Languedoc." Indeed, the winemaker did not like the new "Languedoc" appellation, which replaced "Coteaux du Languedoc" in 2011, so by choosing "Vin de France," she can no longer indicate a grape variety name on her label. One of our regulations that makes foreigners laugh! No worries, neither the winemaker, nor the vines, nor the wine are changing; it’s still just as good!

Domaine Peyre Rose "Belle Léone" red 2014

RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2025 (August 2024) : The domaine produces superb 2014s, very open today. Belle Léone is, as usual, the densest and most compact juice, with its aniseed imprint and thick tannins. It will need more time, but its beautiful underlying juiciness confirms Marlène Soria's success in this vintage.

La Revue du Vin de France
(Caroline Furstoss, May 2024, "the 100 wines that define the greatness of Languedoc" regarding the 2014 vintage). 2014, the vintage that dreams are made of ten years later. "It was our last vintage with juice," declare the Occitan winemakers in unison. A year less sunny than the following ones, 2014 is an excellent compromise for the reds and whites of Languedoc, with a chiseled profile, fine tannins reflecting a proper maturity in many domaines. In certain areas like Pic Saint-Loup, the volume was generous, and the winemakers had little idea of the unfortunate climatic sequence they would endure in the following years. Finally, it should not be forgotten that the finest cuvées of Languedoc are never better than when they show a decade...
