Chateau Mont-Redon et their faamous Chateauneuf-du-Pape

pierre-fabre-chateau-mont-redon-chateauneuf-du-pape

Abeille-Fabre family produces great Rhone wines in Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation at Chateau Mont-Redon. The king grape is Grenache.

The very first vines date from Roman times. In 1923 Henri Plantin acquired the estate. Since then, 4 generations have followed one another and the estate is today managed by Pierre Fabre, representative of the Abeille-Fabre family (heirs of Henri Plantin).

This vast property covers 186 hectares in total, of which a large half is in production. The castle takes its name from a small round hill nearby, "Montem Retundun" (le Mont Rond). Abeille-Fabre family recently bought Oratoire Saint Martin estate (which belonged to the Alary Brothers) in Cairanne.

Chateau Mont-Redon has the privilege of having the three emblematic terroirs of the appellation: mainly rolled pebbles from the plateau, then safres and Urgonian limestones. These three very complementary terroirs are at the origin of the palette of flavors and textures of the castel's wines. The pebbles of the plateau with their subsoil of fine layers of clay generate optimal water stress and provide exceptional grape quality even in the event of drought. The vines planted in saffron and limestone terroirs with draining soils, conversely, are not afraid of rainy vintages. This perfect complementarity of the terroirs ensures the identity and consistency of the style of Mont-Redon wines.

The estate practices sustainable agriculture and is HVE (High Environmental Value) certified. The harvest is manual. An automatic optical sorting table has been installed. For the reds, the harvest is destemmed. The vinification is done in vats, then the aging in barrels.

An unmissable domain in southern Rhone, renowned for their Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Cotes-du-Rhone, and Lirac.
