Domaine Henri Rebourseau Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru red 2023:

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (William Kelley, Jan. 2025): 93-94/100The 2023 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes derives exclusively from the domaine's old vines toward the top of their large parcel as opposed to the lower-lying blocks and younger vines. Exhibiting aromas of smoky berries, cherries, incense and sweet spices, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with a textural, gourmand profile that's one of the vintage's most appealing guises.

Technical sheet written by the domaine:

“This sumptuous velvet robe is not the sensual envelope of voluptuous nudities full of adorable and profane flesh?” Gaston Roupnel (1871-1946)

Area: 2.21 ha,
Average age of the vines: 41 years
Average yield: 30.07 h/ha

THE CLIMATE
In his 1855 classification, Dr. Jules Lavalle classified 4 grand crus outside the line in the red wines of Burgundy: Le Chambertin, le Clos de Bèze, la Romanée Conti, and le Clos Vougeot.
With an area of about 50 hectares, Clos de Vougeot encompasses a variety of significant terroirs. Established between the 11th and 12th centuries under the impetus of the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux, the Clos is now divided among more than 80 plots. These plots of unequal sizes make it difficult to characterize the appellation as a whole.

THE PLOT
The plot of the domaine is located at the intersection of Baudes Saint Martin of the grand Maupertuis of the Quartier des Marais Bas and the Baudes Hautes. Held for several centuries in a single unit by the family, it constitutes the golden square of Clos de Vougeot. In the upper part, which has a gentle slope, the soil is shallow and granular in structure with abundant gravel on the Bajocian limestone slab. In the middle, the soil is brown and shallow, with pebbles, limestone, and more clay.

CHARACTER
A wine with pronounced minerality expressing underbrush, ferns, moss, and truffles. Velvety expression of coffee grain with black radish. “From Clos de Vougeot, a soul is released, it sings praise, adoration, … Spirit.”
