Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (William Kelley, Jan. 2025): 89-91/100. The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Fonteny exhibits aromas of smoky berries, cherries and incense, followed by a medium-bodied, taut and compact palate that's bright and clean but lacks a little plenitude.

THE CLIMAT
Climat situated on limestone with entroques present less than 15 cm from the surface in some places. This appellation, made of contrasts, extends from Ruchottes to the bottom of the western combe of Gevrey-Chambertin. A slope of several dozen meters separates the upper part from the lower part.

THE PARCEL
The parcel is entirely protected from the north by the grounds of an imposing residence.
Its location at the bottom of the slope benefits from a generous soil and gives this vine an astonishing vigor.

CHARACTER
Cherry red color, nose presenting notes of raspberries and spices,
A structure of rich yet elegant tannins. A persistence of great intensity.
