Domaine Henri Rebourseau Gevrey Chambertin "La Brunelle" red 2023

"A model for geologists, a paradise for the vine that gives birth to one of the most accomplished versions of the village appellation, Gevrey-Chambertin" Jacky Rigaud. The climate "La Brunelle" allows, just before a premier cru and its high prices, to discover at a lower cost the vastness of the terroir of Gevrey in terms of delicacy, not to mention a beautiful capacity to age, even if the 2023s are already perfect at the end of 2025.

Domaine Henri Rebourseau Gevrey Chambertin "La Brunelle" red 2023

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (William Kelley, Jan. 2025) : 89-91/100. The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin La Brunelle was showing nicely, revealing notes of cherries, cassis and licorice followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy palate that's soft and giving. This will show well on release.

Technical sheet written by the domaine :

“A model for geologists, a paradise for the vine that gives birth to one of the most accomplished versions of the village appellation, Gevrey-Chambertin” Jacky Rigaud

Surface area: 2.78 ha
Average age of vines: 33 years
Average yield: 26 h/ha

THE CLIMATE
La Brunelle is located in the heart of the plateau that forms an excellent trap for silt, which some experts have not hesitated to qualify as “one of the best successes of the alluvial cone of the Lavaux valley.” On the surface, there are mainly brown soils, just below the limestone gravel that retains heat well. At the bottom of this climate, there are stacks of round limestone rocks. At two meters deep, there is a layer of sand and clay.

THE PARCEL
La Brunelle is linked to the history of the estate, which takes its name from this remarkable parcel. Perfectly connected to the house and enclosed within its vast clos, it constitutes a monopoly.

CHARACTER
A clear and bright robe of beautiful intensity with lovely violet reflections. Aromas of jammy cherries sometimes emerge. An aromatic persistence surpassing its village appellation.
