Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ( Joe Czerwinski - Oct. 2019): 93/100. A new luxury cuvée, the 2018 Lirac Marie Jausset combines aromas of asphalt, black olives, and plums. It's full-bodied, dense, and rich, with velvety tannins marking the long finish.

PRELUDE  
This cuvée was born from our desire to highlight the terroir of this magnificent CRU with a wine that will stand the test of time... Parcel selection followed by the best vats in our cellars, it is the "echo" of our "Cuvée du Papet". A tribute to our great-grandmother "MARIE JAUSSET", heir to the vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and thanks to whom the history of the Domaine began at the turn of the last century.  

VINTAGE  
"Beautiful Maturities and Beautiful Balances" 
In the memory of winemakers, one must go back several decades to find a beginning of the year as rainy. Fortunately, September was spared from the equinox rains, allowing winemakers to harvest in peace, until late in the late season. Made from grapes in excellent health, the wines of the 2018 vintage are characterized by optimal maturities and very nice lengths on the palate.  

TERROIR  
Our vines are located in the municipalities of Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres and Saint-Génies-de-Comolas on the right bank of the Rhône. The plots are spread across the lieux-dits "Les Cosses", "Caveyrac", and "Montcau". The soils are very rich in pliocene sands with some plots having the presence of red silica mixed with some scattered pebbles, remnants of the Urgonian period. This terroir imparts depth and freshness to the wines.   

VINIFICATION  
The grapes are hand-harvested, with a very strict sorting to select only the best berries. The choice of harvest date is essential to be as precise as possible regarding maturities. The vinification is then conducted with some pump-overs and rackings without seeking maximum extraction. Press juice and free-run juice are aged separately in concrete tanks before being blended after a few months and stored in tanks and barrels. The percentage of containers varies according to the profile of the vintage.

Fermentation: 100% in concrete tank

Aging: 85% in steel tank and 15% in barrels of several wines
