Château Pesquié Ventoux "Terrasses" Red 2023

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Yohan Castaing, Oct. 2025): 91/100. The 2023 Ventoux Terrasses opens with notes of wild cherry, red plum, garrigue, crushed stone and a hint of black pepper. Medium-bodied and well balanced, it offers a core of red fruit that is precise rather than opulent and is framed by fine, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity. This is a poised, elegant Southern Rhône red—less about muscular power and more about tension and freshness—and it should drink well over the next 5–8 years. DRINK DATE 2025-2033.

Technical sheet written by the domaine:

Description: Derived from the Latin "Terras", "lump of earth", this word has taken on the meaning of "raised earth" forming a terrace held by a stone wall. The relief of the Côtes du Ventoux is indeed characterized by the alternation of hills and valleys. To highlight this exceptional terroir, the slopes of the hills have been arranged in "terraces" by choosing sheltered and sunny orientations. Even today, they are found in the Provençal countryside also called "restanques" or "rebanqués". With this name, the Chaudière family pays homage to the Provençal landscape "sculpted" by their ancestors.

Terroir: Clay-limestone, sands, red earth and marls
Altitude: plots between 250 and 350 meters
Average vine age: 30 years
Vineyard worked in biodynamics

Grapes: 60% Grenache - 40% Syrah (with traces of carignan, cinsault, and mourvèdre)

Vinification and aging: The fermentation/maceration of this wine lasts about 15 days in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Short aging in concrete tank, no barrels.

Tasting:
Appearance: clear and deep ruby.
Nose: intense notes of fresh red fruits and peppery spices.
Palate: this very balanced wine combines freshness and roundness of tannins with aromas of red fruits, floral and spicy notes.

Food and wine pairing: Terrasses is an easy wine to pair. With simple dishes like pizzas, grilled dishes (grilled beef), skewers, charcuterie, vegetable pies or mixed salads or on slightly more ambitious dishes like stuffed vegetables, terrines, paella, poultry (guinea fowl, turkey...) or offal (liver, kidneys). Serve at about 17°C.
