RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2024 (Sept. 2023): 96/100. Sharp and distinguished, the Latricière is a lace-like wine with exceptional freshness: with its silky tannins, cool and racy character, it faithfully expresses its terroir.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (William Kelley, January 2023) : 92-94/100. The 2021 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru exhibits aromas of dark wild berries and plums mingled with licorice, forest floor and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's deep and seamless, with a vibrant spine of acidity and powdery structuring tannins, concluding with a long, perfumed finish.

Together, let us explore the history of this Grand Cru, a close cousin of Chambertin. So close that it was first mentioned only in 1508. At that time, the Latricières were certainly confused with their royal neighbor: Chambertin. The etymology is quite mysterious: for some, undoubtedly poets, the origin is Frankish and means "little wonder"; for others, more realistic and likely more observant, it is the very nature of the soil that gives it its name: "la Tricière," poor land.
This poor soil is observed during the tilling in summer: the clay-limestone substrate reveals a thin layer of silica on the surface. This fine stratum comes from the debris of the nearby Grissard valley.
What pride and emotion it is to work on this terroir of which we have the honor of being the custodians since 1904.
That year was particularly rich in happy events: first, the birth of Louis on January 1st, then the acquisition of 35 ouvrées of Latricières from the Savot family by Pierre Arthur Trapet, and finally the announcement of a superb vintage of which we still cherish the living testimony.

This Latricières 1904, the sap of human labor, the memory of our family, so dense, so powerful, yet so fragile that it makes us believe in immortality!
