Mas del Périé, Cahors "Bloc B763" 2019 red wine

This wine is one of the three selected by Olivier Faucon of Mas Combarèla (winemaker of the week of September 8, 2022) to be part of his ideal cellar. His comment: "wines discovered at the fair in Paris this year 2022, a big crush on the parcel malbecs, this cuvée in particular; what balance!"

RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2021 (Nov. 2020): 92/100. The violet persists in a tasty, alert, and available texture, sequenced between fruit and tannins. It adjusts to a volume made delightful by aging in concrete egg and barrel; we await it to take on the dimension of its terroir.

Natural and living wine, exclusively from the fermentation of grapes grown on the high-altitude terroirs of Cahors. The Bloc B763 (formerly called La Pièce) is the name of the most beautiful parcel of Mas del Périé, from which this wine originates.

Grape variety: 100% malbec (côt)

Average age of the vines: 50 years.

Area / type of cultivation: 1.3 ha in biodynamic cultivation - (AB - Demeter - Biodyvin)

Soil / exposure: Siderolithic limestone - Summit of the hillside, 350 m altitude.

Vinification: Manual harvest - Natural vinification, destemming, maceration for 30 days. Fermentation in concrete oval tank.

Aging: Aging in oval concrete tank for 22 months. Unfined and unfiltered.

Total SO2: less than 30 mg/L.
