RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2023 (Sept. 2022): 94/100. With its nose of citrus zest, Montée de Tonnerre is saline and reserved, very precise and persistent: it gains intensity each year.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (William Kelley, July 2022): 93+/100. The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is another notable success for Samuel Billaud this year. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of white flowers, citrus oil, white currants, freshly baked bread and beeswax, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a layered mid-palate underpinned by racy acids, concluding with a long, saline finish. Drink date 2025-2045.

The Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre is located on the right bank of the Chablis vineyard. Soil composed of Kimmeridgian clay-limestone marls. Southeast exposure, parallel to the hill of the Grands Crus of Chablis.

Age of the vines: 25 to 35 years.

Yield: 45 hl/ha

Vinification: Pneumatic pressing - Cold settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out 75% in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and 25% in 600-liter demi-muids. Aging on fine lees.
