Domaine des Creisses "Les Brunes" red 2022

Grape variety:

• 60% cabernet-sauvignon aged 6 to 33 years
• 30% syrah aged 5 to 25 years
• 10% mourvèdre aged 30 years

Terroir:
Cabernet-Sauvignon: Brown basaltic soils.
Syrah and Mourvèdre: 1- Clay-limestone gravel
                               2- Villafranchian pebbles

Management (sustainable protection): Short pruning on old wood / Double Royat to spread the grapes and aerate them for optimal ripeness. One row sown with fava beans or clover, the other naturally grassed.

Climate: On well-replenished soils from winter rains (over 400 m) and thanks to a humid and mild spring, the vegetation quickly progressed through its early stages. From mid-June, strong and uninterrupted heat put the vine to the test.  
Fortunately, storms bringing 30 mm around August 15, followed by cooler nights, allowed the vine to ripen its fruits gently, with new rains in mid-September benefiting all grape varieties since the harvest, which began on September 13, ended on October 10. The wines have a soft structure and very expressive fruit.

Yield: 40 hl/ha.

Phenolic maturity: Optimum sought for the silkiness of the tannins and for the longevity of the wines.

Vinification: 25-day maceration of always destemmed grapes at high temperature.

Aging: 17 months in new French oak barrels selected for fine grains with medium plus toast.
