Domaine des Creisses "Les Brunes" red 2023 MAGNUM

Technical sheet prepared by the domaine:

Grape Varieties: 

• 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from 6 to 33 years
• 30% Syrah from 5 to 25 years
• 10% Mourvèdre from 30 years

Terroir:
Cabernet Sauvignon: Brown basaltic soils.
Syrah and Mourvèdre: 1- Clay-limestone gravel
                               2- Villafranchian pebbles

Management (reasoned protection): Short pruning on old wood / Double Royat to spread and aerate the grapes for optimal ripeness. One row sown with fava beans or clover, the other naturally grassed.

Climate: On well-recharged soils from winter rains (over 400 m) and with the benefit of a wet and mild spring, vegetation rapidly progressed through its initial stages. From mid-June, strong and uninterrupted heat put the vine to the test.
Fortunately, thunderstorms of 30 mm around August 15th, followed by cooler nights, allowed the vine to ripen its fruits gently with new rains in mid-September, benefiting all grape varieties, as the harvest that began on September 13th was completed on October 10th. The wines have a smooth structure and very expressive fruit.

Yield: 40 hl/ha.

Phenolic maturity: Optimum sought for silky tannins and wine longevity.

Vinification: Maceration for 25 days of always destemmed harvest at high temperature.

Aging: 17 months in new French oak barrels with fine grain selection, medium plus toast.
