Gandines, great white wines from Maconnais
Located in the south of Burgundy, the Gandines estate produces mainly white organic Maconnais wines from Chardonnay, AOC Vire Clesse and AOC Macon Peronne.
This very specialized area, concentrated on 15 ha, has been run by the Dananchet family since 1925. Since 2015, Robert Dananchet has been gradually handing over his two sons, Benjamin and Florent. The estate has been certified in organic farming since 2009, and is conducted according to the principles of biodynamics. No chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides are used.
Gandines produces its wines on two main soils:
- Clesse, consisting of a marly limestone soil. The vineyard is very sunny thanks to its east and south-east orientation: no shade on the parcels located mid-hillside. The wines from this terroir are fruity, round and fat (in the good sense of the word!).
- Peronne, consisting of clay sediments: a soil of limestone and marl inherited from the Middle and Upper Jurassic era. Peronne is a small village located 3km from Clesse which produces wines in AOC Macon-Peronne.
Thanks to plowing and natural compost, soils are enriched and microbial activity is promoted.
