A cuvée for pleasure and sharing from Milan, a leading name in southern—and organic—winegrowing and, for us, a potential successor to domaine Hauvette at far lower prices. Léon was born in the Alpilles, the new El Dorado for fine southern wines. A “house” blend sourced mainly from the 2025 vintage, but not exclusively. The winemaker is highly meticulous!

Domaine Fontchêne "Léon" red 2025 (3 bottles with damaged labels)

Technical sheet written by the domaine:

An in-house blend made primarily from the 2025 vintage.

Soil type: Clay-loam, rounded pebbles

Grape varieties: Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre

Vinification / ageing: Hand-harvested in 15 kg crates. Destemming, vatting and crushing of the grapes.
Gentle extraction through short daily pump-overs. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, grape variety by grape variety, at controlled temperature. Three-week maceration.
Ageing in tank (50%) and oak barrels (50%) for 18 months.

Tasting notes: A deep colour, with notes of violet and spice on the nose. The palate is smooth, carried by supple tannins and generous fruit with roasted nuances. A cuvée made for pleasure and sharing.
