Domaine Rostaing Cote-Rotie "Cote Brune" red 2023

ATTENTION: bottle sold individually in our packaging as we received our allocation of 3 bottles in a case of 3 and wish to satisfy 3 different customers.

A cuvée produced since 2013, made from old syrahs ideally located in the lieu-dit Côte Brune, inherited from Marius Gentaz (former domaine Gentaz Dervieux), a local figure like Emile Guigal. These vines were worked for almost 10 years by René Rostaing and his son before producing the first bottle bearing their name. Positioned qualitatively above the Blonde, only a few bottles are produced, solely in vintages deemed worthy of this exceptional cuvée.

Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie "Côte Brune" red 2023

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Y. Castaing, May 2026) : 98+/100. Rostaing’s 2023 Côte-Rôtie Côte Brune is superb, unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark plum, violet, timut pepper, spice, tapenade and dark berries. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and structured, it is impeccably balanced, built around a tensile, vibrant core of fruit and a finely judged framework of tannins that confers both power and precision. The finish is long and ethereal, marked by lingering notes of rose petal. One of the high points at this address in 2023, it stands out as a benchmark rendition of Côte Brune. DRINK 2029-2058.

Technical sheet written by the domaine

To be enjoyed between 15 and 17°C after decanting 3 to 4 hours in advance.

Ideal food pairings according to René Rostaing: A sauté of wild mushrooms, pigeon with truffle, or certain cheeses like Saint-Marcelin.

The 4 cuvées of Côte Rôtie are vinified and aged in exactly the same way so that only their specific terroirs are the source of their different personalities.

Vinification: the vinification, free from any artifice and excessive technique, treats hand-harvested grapes with respect, ensuring that we find the sought-after typicity in the glass. The vinification combines respect for tradition and calculated modernism such as total or partial destemming and fermentation in self-pumping tanks.

Aging: the aging of about two years takes place in Burgundy barrels of 228 liters and in demi-muids of 600 liters (the latter providing an excellent wood/wine ratio). The proportion of new wood remains modest to prioritize the terroir and the purity of the fruit.

Limited yields rarely reaching 35 Hectoliters/Hectare ensure the wines' constitution and richness, flavor and elegance that we invite you to discover!
