Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Y. Castaing, mai 2026): 94/100.The 2023 Côte-Rôtie la Viailliere, a cuvée produced since 2009, was matured in demi-muids with around 30% new oak. As is often the case at this address, it’s the most reductive wine in the cellar in its youth. With aeration, it reveals a floral bouquet of peony and rose. Medium- to full-bodied, it’s seamless, round and enveloping, built around a particularly beautiful core of fruit framed by elegant, finely chiseled tannins. Long and airy, it concludes with notes of dark fruits and a slight firmness that should mellow with time. DRINK 2026-2048

This cuvée is the result of nearly 10 years of hard work, clearing, establishing paths, walls, and planting (in 2003 and 2004). Then, some time later, the first vintage (2009) from this very special terroir.

Area: 1.75 hectares on the lieu-dit "la VIALLIERE"

Soil type: Micaschist

Grape variety: 100% Syrah

Location: Sloped vineyard, south-southeast exposure

Age of the vines: 10 years

Vinification: 100% destemming. Maceration for 4 weeks.

Aging: 100% new demi-muids (500-liter barrels) for 18 months. Malolactic fermentation done in barrels
