Domaine Miolanne IGP Puy de Dôme "syrah" red 2024
March 2026: This cuvée just bottled may be slightly closed (even reduced, as the syrah grape is very reductive) upon opening. We recommend decanting at least one hour before tasting if it is immediate in early 2026, with a preference for tasting at the end of the year or in 2027 and subsequent years!
This 100% syrah comes from massal selections from Côte-Rôtie!), still in IGP Puy de Dôme. A true success, the freshness of the volcanoes combined with the seductive aromas of syrah! Only 500 cases produced. The perfect trap for a blind tasting. Yes, it’s excellent, opulent, meaty, smoky, but no, it’s neither a Crozes Hermitage nor a Saint-Joseph :-) Great aging potential in the cellar!
WARNING: For the environment, the domaine has decided to no longer use aluminum capsules (purely aesthetic), but rest assured, the wine is perfectly protected and the payment of taxes (formerly represented by Marianne, now optional) is duly made!

Technical sheet written by the domaine
March 2026: This cuvée may be slightly closed upon opening. We recommend opening it about an hour before tasting or a light decanting.
Designation: IGP Puy de Dôme
Yield: 40 hl/ha
Vineyard: Vineyard under organic farming since 2012.
Terroir: Auvergne, volcanic lahars and pumice stone as well as clay-limestone. Vineyard on a plateau at 450m altitude formed by the volcanic eruption of the Massif du Sancy. Terroir characterized by strong thermal amplitudes and low rainfall due to the proximity of the Sancy massif.
Grapes: 100% Syrah - 2 massal selections of Damas noir (one of the oldest types of syrah) from Côte Rôtie
Harvest: Manual harvest in 25 kg crates. Pre-sorting in the vineyard.
Vinification: Classic vinification, indigenous yeasts. Whole-cluster fermentation, uncrushed harvest. Maceration for 4 weeks. Aging for 9 months, 30% of the volume in Burgundy barrels and 400l casks, the rest in stainless steel. 3 rackings, no filtration. SO2 dose: less than 35 mg/l of total SO2.
Tasting: Purple robe, fine, intense, and complex nose.
On the palate: aromas of forest fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), flint, a slight floral note (violet), complemented by aromas of humus, black olive, and a hint of roasting. The structure is well balanced, evolving on rich, chalky tannins.
Beautiful long and aromatic finish. Can be kept for 5 years.
Recommended dish: To accompany grilled wild boar chops; beef ribs… And even as an aperitif!
Production: 6,000 bottles.
