Technical Sheet written by the domaine :
Vintage 2024
The 2024 vintage is marked by good rainfall in the spring, spaced out over time to protect the vines. This year was characterized by a warm summer but not scorching in the Gassac region. Rain in August and 105mm of rain in September provided superb maturity, resulting in a very heterogeneous vintage between the beginning and the end of the harvest.
Designation: IGP St Guilhem-le-Désert – Cité d'Aniane.
Grapes:
- 35% Viognier (wood origin: Georges Vernay – Condrieu).
- 13% Petit Manseng (wood origin: Charles Hours – Béarn).
- 29% Chardonnay (wood origin: Comptes Lafon).
- 10% Chenin Blanc (wood origin: Domaine Huet – Vouvray).
– 6% Muscat Petit grain
- 7% rare varieties: Sauvignon, Marsanne, Roussanne, Petit Courbu, Muscat d’Alexandrie, Gros Manseng, Semillon (France), Fiano (Italy).
Average age of the vines: 34 years.
Yields: 25 hl/ha.
MAS de DAUMAS GASSAC Blanc: To be enjoyed within the first three years for its beautiful fruit. Beyond that, new flavors emerge, reminiscent of those found in Jerez or old Sauternes. Best served at 11-12°C, cool but not icy to preserve the sumptuous fruit aromas.
The great wines MAS DE DAUMAS GASSAC Red and White come exclusively from the terroirs of the high valley of Gassac: 40 hectares of vineyards planted in small clearings (about fifty, each ranging from half to one hectare), surrounded by the 1,500 hectares of the magnificent garrigue forest of Aniane. On unique terroirs of gravel and glacial dust for the Red and Lutetian limestone for the White, which have never received the deadly action of modern chemical fertilizers, nearly forty non-cloned grape varieties have been planted since 1971 by the Guibert family. Respect for life and the search for the natural expression of the terroir of the Gassac valley, resulting in low yields (37 hectoliters / hectare on average), characterize the spirit of Daumas Gassac wines. Living wines with immense aromatic potential! These two Grand Crus have gained worldwide recognition since their inception.
