Domaine Droin Chablis Grand Cru "Vosgros" 2023 bouteille

Domaine J-P et B Droin Chablis 1er Cru "Vosgros" dry white 2023

93/100 RVF and 91/100 WA. A 1er Cru full of roundness that ideally needs 4 to 5 years to reach its full Chablis expression. A very beautiful vintage 2023 (before a 2024 devastated by the weather)!

Domaine J-P et B Droin Chablis 1er Cru "Vosgros" dry white 2023:

RVF Guide to the Best Wines of France 2026 (Sept. 2025). 93/100. Coming from a cooler area, Vosgros stands out with an architecture based on noble bitters and salinity; an immediate, fresh wine with a chiseled tension.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (W. Kelley, March 2025): 91/100. The 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Vosgros offers up aromas of apples and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with a rich, satiny attack that segues into a saline, mineral finish. DRINK DATE 2025-2040.

Hachette Guide 2026 (Sept. 2025): 2* (remarkable wine). Dressed in a lovely pale gold robe, this Vosgros reveals complex and sustained aromas of white flowers and yellow fruits enhanced by iodized notes. The palate, both ample and generous with great liveliness, combines the richness of the fruit with mineral tension. A very harmonious wine, as intense as it is fresh and elegant.

Technical sheet written by the domaine:

Location: South / South-West exposure

Area: 0.5850 hectares

Grape variety: Chardonnay

Average age of the vines: 40 years

Annual production: 4,000 bottles

Geological characteristics: Very chalky soil with significant outcrops of stones, the Kimmeridgian bedrock being very close at the top of the plot.

Viticulture: Sustainable viticulture. Soil maintenance through regular plowing.

Vinification: Pneumatic pressing. Enzymatic settling for 12 to 24 hours at 15°C followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Systematic malolactic fermentation followed by blending after 8 to 10 months. Fining if necessary, light filtration, and bottling.

Tasting / Pairing: With its beautiful South-West exposure, the Vosgros climate fully benefits from the sun. However, it takes its time to ripen as it is located in a cool valley. The wines always have a flattering and inviting texture, quite round and even rich in warm years. On the other hand, it takes longer for the aromas to express themselves from this material. Often austere in the first years, it is only after 4 to 5 years that the wine takes on its full Chablis character, expressing notes of petrol, oyster shell, or underbrush. It can be enjoyed with seafood or on fish terrines.
