Domaine de Trévallon red 2023

Trévallon is characterized by long aging. More than 2 years for the reds.
Racking is limited to the strict minimum, the lees at the bottom of the barrels continue to nourish the wine throughout the aging period.

Presentation: After 2022, where we had only 340 mm of rain, the year 2023 marks an even more extreme drought year with less than 300 mm.

Location: North of the Alpilles

Terroir:
Limestone and clay soil, very stony: Hauterivian and Barremian, secondary era, lower Cretaceous, less than 130 million years

Harvest: The harvest began on September 4th with the Syrah.
We finished with the Cabernet-Sauvignon on September 19th.

Vinification:
Vinification without destemming, without yeast, and without sulfur.
Aging 24 months in casks. Fining with fresh egg whites, no filtration for bottling.

Grapes:
Cabernet Sauvignon: 50%
Syrah: 50%

Tasting: This uncommon blend for the southern part of the French vineyard brings us a surge of complexity from its youth, a finish playing between tannins and mouthwatering salinity. A promising vintage, well-suited for aging as well as expressive and invigorating right now.
