Domaine Yves Cuilleron Côte-Rôtie "Bassenon" red 2020

A cuvée from 2 hectares of south-facing terraced vines located on the Semons hillside. "Bassenon" is the name of the stream at the bottom of the slope.

Terroirs: Migmatite granite and gneiss.

Grape variety: 90% syrah, 10% viognier.

Viticulture: vines planted at high density, 8000 /10000 plants per hectare. No insecticides, limited treatments depending on the weather, very low organic fertilizer input, respecting soil and plant balance. Control of vigor and yields, leaf thinning, green harvesting for better grape maturation.

Vinification: manual harvest, parcel-based and traditional vinification. Minimal use of oenological products (native yeasts). In the cellar, sorting, crushing, and partial destemming. Maceration for 3 weeks in open tanks.

Aging: 18 months in barrels.


Olfactory tasting: seductive and fruity wine. Nose of red and black fruits, sweet flowers, and some spices.

Gustatory tasting: the finesse of the terroir brings a mineral freshness to this wine. The palate remains velvety with delicate tannins.

Aging potential: to be enjoyed young on fruity aromas (4 to 5 years) or on evolving aromas (10 years and more).

Pairing: meat with a delicate yet characterful texture (Confit lamb shank, spiced pigeon).
