Robert Parker's wine advocate (William Kelley, January 2020): 92-94/100. The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Fremiet unwinds in the glass with an incipiently complex bouquet mingling raspberries and blood orange with savory bass notes of woo smoke, loamy soil, espresso roast and raw cocoa. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and lively, with a deep and tight-knit core, bright acids and a long finish.

Terroir: The Domaine Marquis d'Angerville owns a large plot of 1.57 hectares on this terroir, long recognized among the top wines of Volnay. Located beneath Clos des Ducs and the Pitures, the soil of this climate, very shallow in the upper part (barely 30 cm of soil), consists of decomposed marl rocks. This mix of clay and limestone gives finesse and body to the wine.

Wine: Although located to the north of the village near Pommard, the Fremiet is very "Volnaysien," fruity yet structured. Fine and smooth, elegance characterizes it. It also benefits from a few years spent in the shadows of a good cellar, which adds even more brilliance to its bouquet, typically dominated by red fruits.
