Jancis Robinsons : 16/20. A big wine, from all angles. Very rip, violet-scented dark fruits; some Christams-cake spices and dried fruit; pops of glacé cherries and candied citrus peel. Vanilla pod and cinnamon bark. There is also a sense of cinnamon bark in the texture of the tannins. Lots of alcohool (15%) but it is well balanced with; amazingly, no burn. Just a soothing back, throat warmth. Very Malbec, although without the gamey meatiness of Mendoza or the tough structure of Cahors. A rather charming, fruit-forward expression - just watch that rather formidable alcohol.
