Aromas of smoky cassis, blackberries and dark chocolate introduce the 2017 Maranges 1er Cru Le Clos des Loyères, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural wine with an expansive, gourmand attack, a rich mid-palate that's framed by powdery tannins and a lingering finish. This is the site that Perrault identifies as potentially the most stereotypically Maranges, yet there's no rusticity here. Drink date 2020-2035.
