Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (David Schildknecht, sept. 2011), 89/100. A strongly medicinal cast of fruit pit, iodine, and herbal concentrates (sage and horehound above all) inflects dark cherry, blackberry and purple plum. There is a metaphorically cooling and soothing aspect to the bittersweetly persistent herbal traits here rather than the somewhat sweet-sour tug I observed 30 months prior; the tannins have become finer; and while there is an imposing sense of viscosity, I see no reason to doubt the label’s claim that we are dealing with only 13.5% alcohol. Not only is this intriguingly lovely now, I suspect it will remain so for at least 2-3 more years.
